In 1992, Australia’s Federal Disability Discrimination Act set a target of making 55 per cent of train stations wheelchair-accessible over the following twenty years. Transport for New South Wales confirmed late last year that it had not met this target, with only 43 per cent of stations wheelchair accessible. Redfern is one of the stations that remains inaccessible, and as one of the busiest stations in the state, it’s in desperate need of an upgrade.
