New SBS TV show “Housos” stigmatises public housing tenants
Producer of Fat Pizza, Paul Fenech has another controversial TV show on air and this time it targets public housing tenants. Tawar Razaghi reports.
The SBS TV show Housos outraged many in the Australian community when it was first previewed in February.
And Mount Druitt MP, Richard Amery, presented a petition with thousands of signatures to State Parliament to get SBS to pull the plug on the show.
While others are loving the Fenech’s highly exaggerated parody.
Love it or hate it, Fenech’s show, which is loaded with swearing and crude slapstick comedy, gives a bad wrap to public housing tenants.
UWS researcher, Dallas Rogers, spoke to Tawar Razaghi about challenging the depiction of public housing tenants on Housos.

Interiew with Dallas Rogers on TV show “Housos”

lighten up, this this show is a scarely true aspect of certain percentage of housing commision tenants – NOT ALL obviously you have nice families older people etc – but I have definately seen many people like this and they all live in housing commissoin from a person who lived to see this for a fact.
