3 September 2010 No Comment

Hi all,

Just a quick note to announce a few changes. We’ve added in the Disqus comment system, which will replace the WordPress default system. Disqus allows you to post comments using your Facebook or Twitter account, or to post with a username and email the old way. You can also set comments to display automatically on your Facebook and Twitter statuses, though this feature is off by default.

Replies can be made directly to the comment you’re referring to, and will appear in-line, rather than having a single, linear thread. There are a bunch of other features as well, so I hope you like the new system.

We’ve also got our own YouTube Direct service up and running, after a few nights battling with the Java code. For the moment this will be used to streamline our video submissions, making it easier to submit video remotely. In the future, we hope to use this feature to solicit videos around particular stories or issues as well, as it allows us to embed a YouTube uploader in a page.

If you’ve got any feedback on the site, either on the changes or generally, please feel free to drop us an email at submissions@reportageonline.com or post a comment below. And if you like the site, then let your friends know! You can become a fan of it here, and suggest it to your friends, for example.

We really appreciate the support that you, the reader, has given us – since the re-launch of Reportage, traffic to the site has increased at an exponential rate.

If you’d like to volunteer with Reportage, then please get in touch. We can always use more editors, writers, photographers, videographers, technical wizards, and are pretty open to most kinds of projects, so long as it adheres to our ethical and editorial standards.

Cheers,

Nick, Lauren, Amanda, and the rest of the Reportage team.
