An iPhone application used as a matchmaking tool for gay and bisexual men is causing a stir in the community, with some concerned about the potential dangers associated with the program, William Brougham and Alex Giblin report.
Grindr isn’t exactly new, it’s been around for over a year, hasn’t it?
I’d suggest that people who use it all the time to line up sex are already aware of the dangers of STIs, and that adding in warning messages will just be ignored.

Does that mean that all matchmaking sites online, facebook, twitter and other typed networking sites and applications should all head the same warnings because they are all places people could potentially meet up for sex?

Grindr has indeed been around for about a year but the calls from within Australia from organisations such as ACON to include a safe sex warning are new. Grindr itself has also only recently taken off in Australia having been popular in the United States and the United Kingdom for some time.
The issue now is indeed whether safe sex warnings will make any difference and whether all networking applications and websites should include one.
